News: Teen seriously injured in rollover accident on I-25 in Santa Fe

SANTA FE, NM - A car accident on Interstate 25 in Santa Fe on Monday night sent two people to the hospital, reports the Santa Fe New Mexican.

Police said a driver was en route to Albuquerque on I-25 and mistakenly attempted to take the offramp for St. Francis Drive at about 9:30 p.m.  The driver overcorrected, and the vehicle went down an embankment and overturned.

One passenger, a 16-year-old girl from Colorado, was flown to University of New Mexico Hospital with serious injuries that inclured a spinal fracture and punctured lungs.  Her injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.  Another passenger, a 24-year-old woman, was also hospitalized.  The woman driving the vehicle was not believed to have been seriously injured.  Police said the three occupants of the vehicle were apparently related.

A portion of I-25 was closed for about two hours while the scene was being cleared and investigated.
