ALBUQUERQUE, NM - Police were at the scene of a crash at an Albuquerque apartment complex on Friday morning, reports KRQE.
It happened on Lead Avenue in the vicinity of Sierra Drive SE and Washington Street sometime before 10 a.m. Witnesses told police that a truck tried to avoid hitting a car and slammed into an apartment on the east side of the La Mariana apartment complex. The residents of the apartment, a mother and son, were not home at the time but the wreck caused extensive damage to the apartment.
Another resident of the complex said she helped provided medical aid to the truck driver before medics arrived at the scene. Neighbors said the driver hit a pole and knocked out power at the complex, which was being checked to determine its structural integrity.
Albuquerque police are investigating the cause of the incident.
