VADO, NM - The New Mexico State Police are trying to find the driver responsible for a hit-and-run crash that injured a pedestrian last week.
According to an NMSP news release, the incident occurred Tuesday on State Road 478 near milepost 7 just south of Franco Road in Vado. An investigation found that a vehicle headed south on State Road 478 sometime before 6 a.m. struck a man on the roadway. The victim, who was not immediately identified, was critically injured and airlifted to a hospital in El Paso.
State Police are now asking for the public's help in identifying the vehicle and driver involved in the incident.
The vehicle is believed to be a Ford pickup or SUV with damage to the headlights. The remaining headlight lenses are yellow and sun-damaged.
