ROSWELL, NM - Three people were hospitalized after a crash involving a Roswell Independent School District School Bus last week, the New Mexico State Police said.
The accident happened August 15 in the area of US 285 and Darby Road at about 7:30 a.m. An investigation found that the driver of the school bus with 34 children on board was traveling east on Darby Road and came to a stop at the intersection. The bus then turned onto US 285 and turned into the path of a Ford pickup truck going north on the highway, resulting in a collision.
The driver of the pickup, a 56-year-old woman, along with a 4-year-old passenger and one child from the bus were all taken to an area hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
The driver of the school bus was issued a citation. NMSP are continuing to investigate the cause of the accident.
