ROSWELL, NM - Three people were hospitalized after a crash involving a Roswell Independent School District School Bus last week, the New Mexico State Police said.
The accident happened August 15 in the area of US 285 and Darby Road at about 7:30 a.m. An investigation found that the driver of the school bus with 34 children on board was traveling east on Darby Road and came to a stop at the intersection. The bus then turned onto US 285 and turned into the path of a Ford pickup truck going north on the highway, resulting in a collision.
The driver of the pickup, a 56-year-old woman, along with a 4-year-old passenger and one child from the bus were all taken to an area hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
The driver of the school bus was issued a citation. NMSP are continuing to investigate the cause of the accident. Our Albuquerque car accident lawyer will continue to monitor this developing story and provide any additional information as it is released to the public.
