ALBUQUERQUE, NM - A suspect is under arrest in connection with a hit-and-run crash in northeast Albuquerque that killed a pedestrian, the Albuquerque Journal reports.
Police identified the man charged in the July 11 incident as 25-year-old Christopher Trammell. The accident happened in the area of Indian School Road and Louisiana Boulevard NE. Investigators said a man was crossing the street against the signal at about 11 p.m. when he was fatally struck by a red Ford Focus that fled the scene.
A criminal complaint said Trammell reported the car stolen the next day, but it was found about a half mile away from his home. Police said they later learned that Trammell had checked into a drug rehab center in Taos and admitted to a worker there that he had struck a pedestrian while under the influence of drugs and alcohol and fled the scene.
He was arrested last week on multiple charges, including homicide by vehicle and leaving the scene of a deadly accident. Should any additional information come to light, our Albuquerque car accident lawyer will update this news blog.
