ALBUQUERQUE, NM - Police said a semi-truck driver was arrested in connection with a crash in Albuquerque that injured two motorcyclists, reports KRQE.
Officers responded to the scene in the area of Carlisle Boulevard NE and Claremont Avenue Monday night at about 10 p.m. An investigation indicated that the semi driver was in the left turn lane on Carlisle Boulevard and did not yield for traffic before turning west at the intersection.
The truck hit the two motorcyclists who had been heading south on Carlisle. Both were transported to the University of New Mexico Hospital, but no details were released on their conditions.
Albuquerque police said the semi-truck driver, Michael Cartagena, did poorly on sobriety tests and witnesses reported that he seemed to be impaired. Cartagena was arrested on several charges, including two counts of great bodily harm by vehicle and possession of a controlled substance.
