Truck slams into Albuquerque home, displacing family and rupturing gas line

ALBUQUERQUE, NM - An Albuquerque family was displaced after a truck crashed into their home on Wednesday.

Homeowner Desiree Ginn described the incident in a report by KRQE. It happened at their residence in the area of Unser Boulevard NW and McMahon Boulevard NW.    Ginn said the driver of a truck was speeding through the neighborhood and lost control of the vehicle, which collided with a car and then struck their home.  The truck ruptured a gas line and knocked out electricity, before hitting the garage.

Ginn said she and her husband were in the kitchen when the accident occurred.  "It was just the loudest crash like I thought something landed on our house or there was like a bunch of balloons," she was quoted as saying.  "I was thinking did a gondola take off our roof? It was just a horrendous crash.".

Ginn, her husband and their 10-year-old are staying with relatives after being told they cannot live in the home again for several months while repairs are made.  Police believe the driver of the truck may have suffered a medical episode prior to the accident.  No charges have been filed so far.
