CLOVIS, NM - An investigation is continuing into the circumstances surrounding a train vs. SUV collision that occurred last week in Clovis, according to a KVII report.
Clovis police said the Jan. 15 incident began when the driver of the SUV fled from an attempted traffic stop in the area of Prince Street and McDonald Street at about 11:45 p.m. The person ran through a field after not yielding to a police officer's emergency lights, according to police.
A short time later, the SUV involved in the traffic stop was struck by a train near the Norris Street railroad crossing, after becoming stuck on the median between the tracks. No one was inside the vehicle. The driver had yet to be located.
