CASS COUNTY, MI - Two drivers were injured when their vehicles collided Wednesday morning in Cass County, WBND reported.
The accident happened at about 6:24 a.m. near the intersection of Topash Street and Townhall Road in Silver Creek Township. The Cass County Sheriff's Office said a driver stopped at the stop sign on Topash Street but then proceeded into the path of another vehicle, resulting in a collision.
The impact sent the second vehicle into a nearby bean field. That driver, 64-year-old Jody Carl Prak of Dowagiac, was transported to Lakeland St. Joseph Hospital for treatment. The first driver, 54-year-old Robert Levi McCarthy of Dowagiac, was injured but refused treatment at the scene. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts.
The sheriff's office said roads were wet at the time, and McCarthy was unable to avoid the crash. Alcohol was not believed to have been a contributing factor.
