2 drivers injured when vehicles collide in Georgetown Township

GEORGETOWN TOWNSHIP, MI - A collision in Ottawa County Friday night sent both drivers to the hospital, reports WOOD.

Deputies with the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office were called to the scene in the vicinity of 44th Street and 8th Avenue in Georgetown Township.

Their investigation determined that the driver of a Nissan Sentra was traveling north on 8th Avenue at about 8:55 p.m. and tried to make a turn onto 44th Street.  At that point, the Nissan was struck by a Hyundai Elantra going south.

The driver of the Nissan, a 32-year-old man from Jenison, was seriously injured and transported to an area hospital.  Investigators said he was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.  The driver of the Hyundai, a 17-year-old Wyoming male, was hospitalized with minor injuries.
