2nd victim dies from Mendon Township crash that killed assistant prosecutor

MENDON TOWNSHIP, MI - A second person has died as the result of a car crash in Mendon Township late last month, according to a report in the Sturgis Journal.

Two vehicles crashed May 30 on Silver Street near Pinhook Road just after 8 a.m.  The St. Joseph County Sheriff's Office said one of the drivers was allegedly going north in the southbound lane.  That vehicle collided head-on with a car driven by 45-year-old Melissa Hallack of Mendon Township.  Hallack, a St. Joseph County Assistant Prosecutor, died at the scene.

The driver of the first vehicle has also died from injuries suffered in the wreck after beign taken to Bronson Hospital.  He was identified as 24-year-old Logan Nicklas Foust of Reading, Michigan.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the cause of the accident.
