BANGOR TOWNSHIP, MI - Three people were injured in a single-vehicle accident in Bangor Township on Friday, according to the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff Daniel E Abbott said the crash happened on M-43 Hwy in the 64K block shortly after 5 p.m.
Witnesses reported that a Nissan Armada SUV was traveling east when it ran off the roadway to the right. The driver appeared to overcorrect and crossed the highway into oncoming traffic before entering the area of a ditch.
The vehicle rolled several times before coming to a stop in the ditch and becoming partially submerged in water.
Three occupants of the SUV, a 22-year-old South Haven woman, a 20-year-old Bangor woman, and a 29-year-old Bangor man, were ejected in the crash. They were transported to the Bronson Hospital Kalamazoo with injuries that were serious but not life-threatening.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation. The sheriff said it was not immediately clear which of the three injured victims had been the driver.
