HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, MI - Authorities said a van accident in Ottawa County on Tuesday evening injured three people in the vehicle, including a 4-year-old boy who was ejected.
According to WXMI, the incident took place on Interstate 196 near Adams Street in Holland Township. The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office said the driver of a Dodge van was traveling east at about 5:30 p.m. when the vehicle rolled over.
The 4-year-old, who was reported to have been unbuckled, was hospitalized in critical condition. The driver of the van, a 45-year-old Holland man, and a 30-year-old woman sustained minor injuries. Another passenger, a 3-year-old girl, was not injured. A Toyota sedan was also involved in the crash but the driver, a 42-year-old man from Alto, was not injured.
Investigators are trying to determine the cause of the accident, which shut down I-196 in both directions for several hours.
