85-year-old driver dies after collision in Richland Township

RICHLAND TOWNSHIP, MI - An elderly man was killed when his vehicle was involved in a collision in Kalamazoo County last Friday afternoon, authorities said.

According to WKZO, sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the scene on M-89 near North 30th Street.  Investigators determined that a driver going west on M-89 at about 2:20 p.m. lost control of the vehicle and entered the eastbound lane, where it struck another vehicle.

The first driver, an 85-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.  The other driver, a 46-year-old from Holland Township, sustained minor injuries.

The roadway was closed for nearly two hours for the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office investigation, which is ongoing.
