SHERWOOD TOWNSHIP, MI - Michigan State Police said a single-vehicle accident in Branch County early Friday morning left the driver dead.
A report by WXMI states that the crash took place on Oliverda Road shortly after midnight. According to State Police, a man was driving north when he crossed over the center line and oncoming lane near Blossom Road and crashed into a tree.
The driver, age 55, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said he was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the wreck. The man's son, who was riding in the front passenger seat, was not injured.
Police are investigating the cause of the accident, including whether impairment was a contributing factor.
