FABIUS TOWNSHIP, MI - A car and a semi tractor-trailer were involved in a fatal collision on Friday, according to Michigan State Police.
A report by WSBT states that the accident happened on US-131 near M-60 in Fabius Township, St. Joseph County. State Police said the driver of a Ford Escape was going south on the highway when he crossed over the center lane into the northbound lanes. The driver of a northbound semi tried to avoid the collision but was unable to, investigators said.
The driver of the Ford, a 66-year-old Constantine man, and his two dogs riding with him were all pronounced dead at the scene. The man was wearing his seat belt at the time of the wreck. The truck driver, a 60-year-old Indiana man, was not injured.
Investigators were trying to determine whether drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the crash.
