Driver killed in rollover accident in Heath Township

HEATH TOWNSHIP, MI - A  car accident on 134th Avenue in Heath Township on Tuesday evening left a driver dead, Michigan State Police said.

WOOD reports a man was driving a Toyota SUV southbound when the incident took place at about 7 p.m.  MSP's investigation indicated that the driver lost control of the vehicle near 42nd Street and drove off the roadway.  The SUV flipped and collided with a fence.

The driver died of his injuries after being taken to a hospital in Grand Rapids.  The victim, a 49-year-old man from Hamilton, was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the wreck.

State Police believe alcohol may have been a contributing factor in the incident.
