Kalamazoo County sheriff deputy among 2 injured in collision

COMSTOCK TOWNSHIP, MI - Two people were sent to the hospital following a collision in Cooper Township early Sunday morning, Michigan State Police said.

According to WWMT, the incident happened as a Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Department deputy was responding to a call at 2:50 a.m.  As the deputy traveled north on 33rd Street, the driver of a southbound Ford pickup truck crossed into the oncoming lane and crashed into the sheriff's department cruiser.

The deputy and the Ford driver, a 23-year-old Galesburg man, were both treated at Bronson Hospital and released.  The Ford driver was then arrested for suspicion of operating while intoxicated and was taken to the Kalamazoo County Jail.
