CASS COUNTY, MI - A driver was hospitalized following a two-car collision that occurred in Cass County on Monday evening, WBND reports.
It happened on U.S. 12 near Gumwood Road at about 6:30 p.m. Michigan State Police troopers with the Niles Post learned that a man was driving a Ford F-350 pickup towing a Bobcat excavator when he lost control while heading west on U.S. 12.
The Ford crossed over the center line into eastbound traffic and collided with another vehicle head-on. The driver of the second vehicle, a 49-year-old man from Granger, Indiana, was severely injured. He was transported to Memorial Hospital in South Bend and was expected to survive. The Ford driver, a 27-year-old man from Berrien Springs, Michigan, was not injured.
The crash, which closed U.S. 12, for about five hours, remains under investigation by Michigan State Police. Investigators do not believe drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the wreck.
