Guilty plea in Montcalm County buggy crash that injured 3 children

MONTCALM COUNTY, MI - A man pleaded guilty in connection with an accident involving a buggy in Montcalm County last month, according to court records reported by the Lansing State Journal

The incident happened March 13 on Senator Road southwest of Carson City.  Michigan State Police said the driver of a Chevrolet pickup truck hit the buggy at about 3:40 p.m. and then left the scene.  Three children riding in the buggy, ages 13, 10 and 8, sustained minor injuries.

The driver, a 77-year-old Fenwick man, was arrested on March 30 after investigators said the damage to his truck was consistent with the accident.  The man was reported to have pleaded guilty on Thursday to one count of leaving the scene of a personal injury crash. He is scheduled to be sentenced on May 2.
