ATHENS TOWNSHIP, MI - Michigan State Police said an accident in Calhoun County sent a driver to the hospital on Saturday.
WXMI reports the victim was a 27-year-old man from Kalamazoo. State Police said the crash occurred as he was driving north on M-66 near O Drive South in Athens Township.
The investigation indicated he was traveling at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his car. The vehicle ran off the roadway and rolled over.
The driver was seriously injured and taken to an area hospital. Investigators do not believe that drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the wreck.
MSP was assisted at the scene by the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, the Tribal Police Department, the Athens Fire Department and Life EMS.
