Semi-truck driver killed in accident near Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, MI - Michigan State Police are investigating an accident near Grand Rapids that left a truck driver dead.

According to 9&10 News, the wreck occurred May 31 on US-131 south of 10 Mile Road.  State Police said the driver of a semi tractor-trailer was headed south at about 11:50 p.m., drove off the left side of the roadway, and entered the median in a heavily wooded area.

The driver died at the scene.  He was a 51-year-old man from the Mesick area whose name was not released.

The crash is being investigated by the MSP Grands Rapids Post, which said alcohol does not appear to have been a contributing factor.
