Three-car crash in Berrien County leaves 19-year-old injured

BERRIEN COUNTY, MI - A multi-vehicle collision in Berrien Township last week left one of the drivers critically injured, authorities said.

Police told WNDU that the accident happened Wednesday night in the area of Eau Claire Road and Maple Grove Road at about 6:30 p.m.  According to the investigation, the driver of a Honda van was making a left turn at the intersection and crashed into a Saturn, which then spun out of control, crossed the center line and struck a southbound Ford F-150 pickup.

A 19-year-old man was pinned inside one of the vehicles, and after being extricated he was taken to an area hospital and listed in critical condition.

Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the wreck.  They have yet to determine whether speed or alcohol were contributing factors.
