Victim identified in deadly hit-and-run in Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, MI -  Grand Rapids police have released new details in the case of a man who was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver earlier this month.

According to WOOD, the victim has been identified as 53-year-old Roberto Delgato. The incident happened March 10 at the intersection of S. Division Avenue and Andre Street SW.  Investigators said Delgato was crossing near the crosswalk at about 3:15 a.m. when he was struck by an SUV.

Delgato was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver involved left the scene and was last spotted going north on S. Division Avenue and then east on Burton Street.

Investigators say the vehicle they are looking for is believed to be a 2006-2008 dark-colored Honda Pilot with significant damage to the driver’s side headlight and is also likely to have damage to the driver’s side of the hood and the windshield.

Anyone with further information on the incident, or any businesses or residents who may have surveillance footage from the scene, were asked to contact the Grand Rapids Police Department.
