Woman on bicycle injured after being hit by truck in Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, MI - Police in Grand Rapids are investigating an accident that sent a bicycle rider to the hospital on Monday morning.

According to WZZM, the victim was a woman riding an electric bicycle eastbound on 44th Street. Police said a truck was making a turn from Plymouth Avenue at about 10 a.m. and collided with the woman.

She was seriously injured and taken to an area hospital, where she was reported to be in grave condition. The driver of the truck stayed at the scene and was cooperating with investigators.

Police do not believe speed or alcohol were contributing factors in the incident. Anyone with further information was asked to contact the Grand Rapids Police Department Traffic Unit.
