GRAND HAVEN TOWNSHIP, MI - A collision on U.S. 31 in Ottawa County last week left a driver seriously injured, according to MLive.com.
The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office said a semi-truck driver was using the turnaround to go south on U.S. 31 near Hayes Street Thursday night when the incident occurred at about 9 p.m.
The initial investigation found that as the driver pulled into the highway's southbound lanes, the semi's trailer was struck by a Hyundai traveling south.
The Hyundai driver, a 65-year-old woman from Grand Haven Township, was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries. She was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, authorities said. The truck driver, a 43-year-old man from Valparaiso, Indiana, was not injured.
The sheriff's office is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
