The accident happened on westbound Interstate 40, the BCSO tweeted shortly before 5 a.m. Westbound I-40 near the 182 exit at Sedillo was closed while deputies were investigating. No information was immediately released on the victim.

There were no serious injuries reported, according to the sheriff's office.

Matthew Shetima-Joe pleaded no contest to charges of drunk driving and vehicular homicide in connection with the wreck. Authorities said Shetima-Joe was drunk behind the wheel and speeding when he went through a red light and collided with another vehicle at Wyoming Boulevard and Osuna Road. The accident killed the other driver, 21-year-old Victor Sandoval.

16-year-old driver fleeing from officers crashes on I-10VADO, NM - New Mexico State Police said a 16-year-old driver fleeing from authorities in a stolen vehicle was involved in a crash in Vado last week, reports KFOX14 News. The incident began when State Police learned that the driver of a stolen 2017 Nissan had crossed from Texas into New Mexico. Officers spotted the vehicle parked on the shoulder of Interstate 10 eastbound. When a NMSP officer attempted a traffic stop the driver fled, police said.

Collision causes car to slam into building in Los AlamosLOS ALAMOS, NM - A two-car collision in Los Alamos Wednesday afternoon caused one of the vehicles to crash into a building, according to the Los Alamos Reporter. The accident happened near 800 Trinity Drive, where the impact caused a vehicle to hit the building outside a doctor's office. No serious injuries were reported, but one person from the second vehicle was taken to Los Alamos Medical Center.
