The attorneys at Keller & Keller limit their practice to personal injury, and the past case types we’ve handled for Kokomo residents include serious accidents involving cars, semi-trucks, and motorcycles. We’ve also investigated wrongful death claims and have years of experience with the Howard County Court located at 104 North Buckeye Street in downtown Kokomo.

Dangerous Kokomo Roads

The majority of Kokomo accident cases we’ve investigated involve accidents that occur on or near US 31. The highway serves as a major artery that cuts through the city and connects Kokomo with our offices in Indianapolis and South Bend.

Several of the accidents occurring on US 31 happen at or near one of the several intersections. Anyone traveling through Kokomo will be subject to 15 different stoplights along this section of US 31, and the roadway is typically congested.

Of course, US-31 isn't the only roadway in Kokomo where accidents regularly occur. We have also received a number of calls from accident victims that were struck on State Road 22 (Sycamore Street), a large stretch of roadway that runs through Kokomo, east and west.
In addition to automobile accidents, we have also investigated incidents that involve the Kokomo City-Line Trolley and accidents occurring on the city’s railways. The unique transportation offerings of Kokomo have allowed us to become familiar with different possible case types that have occurred throughout the city.

UPDATE: Recent construction now has US 31 bypassing Kokomo to the east, but still has multiple bypasses that allows travelers to reach downtown Kokomo. SR 931 now serves as the main road that runs north to south through Kokomo.

Kokomo Accident Case

A motorcyclist from Kokomo, Indiana contacted our office after having been rear-ended by a car while sitting at a stop sign.

At the time of the accident, our client and his wife were stopped at the intersection of C.R. 850 south and U.S. 31 where they were waiting for traffic to clear so they could make a right turn on U.S. 31. Without warning, the at-fault party, who was positioned directly behind them, rolled forward and struck the rear of our client’s motorcycle, causing him to lose control. As the motorcycle began to fall our client stuck his leg out to try and brace the bike from falling. The jolt proved too forceful and threw he and his wife off the bike.

After an initial investigation, it was found that the adverse was preoccupied by two children that were in the back seat of her car and when she turned around to look in the back she did not notice that her vehicle was rolling forward until it impact the motorcycle.

The amount of damage done to the client’s bike was significant and required extensive repairs. The injuries proved to be more severe, requiring him to be seen at Howard Community Hospital for complaints of neck, back, and knee pain. Ultimately, an MRI was performed and revealed a torn meniscus in his knee that would require surgery and physical rehabilitation.

After being released from his doctor’s care, our office sent requests for all of his medical records and bills so that the attorney could prepare a full and complete demand package on his behalf. In the end, we were able to settle the client’s case for an amount that met his authority.

Our Goal as your accident lawyer

Ultimately, our goal is to help you recover the largest amount of possible compensation from the insurance company of the driver who caused the accident. There are often factors that can limit the amount of money we are able to recover, but the 3 types of compensation we typically demand include:

  • Payment for all your medical bills.
  • Collecting your lost wages.
  • Compensation for pain and suffering.

When you hire Keller & Keller, you’re the boss. This means that we keep you informed the entire way and never attempt to settle your case without discussing the strategy with you as well as obtaining an authority amount, meaning we will attempt to settle the case at a dollar amount you are comfortable with.
