Worker Killed By Tree Limb After Storm In Granger, Indiana

A worker helping with tree cleanup after a severe storm in Granger, Indiana, was killed when a tree branch fell onto the woman.

According to WSBT local news, 34-year-old Shannon Magezi of Granger was fatally injured as she stood under a tree where co-workers were removing a broken limb The branch split as the crew was cutting it and fell onto the woman. Magezi, an employee of Tree Are Us, suffered a traumatic head injury and was rushed to Memorial Hospital where doctors pronounced her dead. An autopsy will take place next week to confirm the cause of death.

The owner of Trees Are Us, Magezi’s stepfather, who was not present at the time of the deadly worker accident, is under investigation by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. Magezi was not wearing a hard hat at the time of the Indiana on-the-job accident.
